Updated Starts for Irish Athletes on World Triathlon Calendar

Zoe Wogan will become the latest athlete to represent Ireland at a World Triathlon event when competing in the Oceania Supersprint Championships.

Upcoming Events Draft Legal

Wogan finished 6th behind Aspen Anderson in the Australian Schools Championships last year with Anderson going on to win this year's Oceania Junior Championships and finish 15th in the Elite Napier World Cup. Also due to compete in the race is Emma O’Brien who finished 14th in the Oceania Elite Championships. Oddly O’Brien’s ranking includes points from that race despite not being in an Oceania federation.

There are now 3 Irish Juniors due to race in Europe over the next month with Mathys Bocquet and Sean McMahon in Italy on 9th May and Senan McDonnell racing in Poland on the 24th. The race in Caorle, Italy, is a supersprint format while Poland is a sprint distance event.

4 Irish athletes head to the Senior Elite event in Poland with Hollie Elliott and Erin McConnell competing in the women’s race while Jonathan Oakey and Luke McCarron go in the men's. Alice Betto and Bianca Seregni lead the women’s field which is really quite strong looking until you see the men’s has Hayden Wilde and Vasco Vilaca at the head.

ParaTriathlon

Chloe Maccombe and Tom Williamson are on the Yokohama Para World Series start list. Maccombe faces Maggie Sandles, who beat her in Devonport, again in a race featuring Francesca Tarantello and Anja Renner. Williamson has his first race since a 5th place in last year's World Championship and should have a shot at a podium in a large field.

MultiSport

Elsewhere on the non drafting and Multi Sport side of World Triathlon Niall Cornyn races the European Middle Distance Duathlon Championships this weekend, Ralf Bodamer goes in the European Aquathlon Championships in Spain while in the Middle Distance Triathlon race Russell White is down to start against a couple of his previous competitors from Olympic distance racing in Ognjen Stojanovic and Jan Volar.
